Guy Sands - World Traveler

· Leadership,Traveler

Guys Sands is a world traveler. He has had many opportunities to stamp his passport both through his time in the United States Army and on his own. He enjoys visiting different places and learning about the cultures of the world.

He started traveling from a young age. Through his adolescent and teenage years, he saw many different places across the United States. After signing up with the Army, his travel expanded across Europe and most of Asia. He also spent some time visiting West Africa.

Guy Sands attended graduate school at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland. While he was there, he worked as a company executive officer for the Black Watch Regiment.

He deployed to Afghanistan for nine months between September of 2004 and June of 2005. During this time, he oversaw provincial reconstruction teams deployed by the United States to help with rebuilding the area. This experience led to his assignment as an inspector general in the Afghan reconstruction. He was in charge of the oversight of $50 billion in reconstruction funds to complete the project and spent lots of time traveling to and from the areas.

In total, he has spent time living in or visiting over 30 states in the U.S. He also spent time in various areas of Europe and Asia during his training and his employment. In the future, he has plans to travel more for leisure, though he can’t think of one place in particular where he would like to spend his time.
